Gratitude Jazz Band draw their influences from the likes of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and Keith Jarrett. They also love to play more modern music in a variety styles, from funky dance music to free jazz chaos. They use music to connect audiences to the spiritual dimension of life, in the tradition of Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders, with an open mind, nurturing what is positive and life-affirming.
They play at clubs, parties, weddings, and other events in the Corvallis area. They tailor their musical style to the event, whether it calls for classic jazz standards, quiet dinner music, danceable modern pop, or more creative excursions into interstellar space. However, they always aim for an atmosphere of spontaneity and fun.
They are also the house band for jazz worship at the First Presbyterian Church of Corvallis, Oregon. They can be heard via live streaming most Sundays at 1st Pres starting around 9:40 AM or so (Pacific) at http://1stpres.org/worship/live-streamed-worship/.
